Costs
Costs will be reduced by assistance with prompt proactive communication, collaboration and corrective feedback and continuity.
The issue of cost is very important. One of the major problems is the unwillingness to reasonably address the question of our priorities as individuals, community and our country. This leads to the question of realistic approaches to motivations in human behavior. We need interest, willingness to give up something and then the provision of consistent rewards to all of the small teams of health care providers and junior executives. This then must be supported by and involve the larger community.
At the current practical level we need will and leadership of a number of strong well-motivated leaders. In simple terms-the CEOs of several major corporations working together could initiate big productive changes now. This productive change would be quicker if the conflicts of interest were significantly decreased.
There are many proven ways to decrease costs significantly by improving collaboration, providing easier access to prompt communication and corrective feedback and continuity. Part of the emphasis must be on better and consistent support of the people/providers-and less emphasis on the budgets for technology.
Patients are seen at times with industrial and automobile accidents and other complex situations. Sometimes there are co-existing problems of language barriers, cultural differences, emotional or psychotic behavior, and other confusing presentations. Use of prompt screening tools as indicated in the Health Trend Chart section, and follow-through with proactive assistance will prevent many hospitalizations and litigation, and will improve healthcare.
